Site of the copper miners' cottages

Japan Heritage/Historic Site
At Shiraishi in Fukiya is the site where, back in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868), there was a row of cottages for workers at the Yoshioka copper mine. The dwellings lined both sides of the sloping road leading to the smelting facility. Today all that remains are a few of stonemasonry platforms that were the foundations of the dwellings.
